The inspiration behind The Bridge was to create a sideboard that would bring a fresh, ultra-modern twist to a traditionally-designed piece of furniture. The designers at Acrylber Furniture wanted to highlight the crisp white of the acrylic by juxtaposing it with the rich tones of reclaimed jarrah timber. The result is a visually stunning piece that stands out from more traditional sideboards.
What sets The Bridge apart from other sideboards is its unique combination of materials. The 30mm thick, solid, reclaimed jarrah cupboard is suspended by white acrylic solid surface legs, which also form part of the top. This fusion of contemporary and traditional style creates a sleek and minimalist look. The recessed handles and beveled edge of the drawers add to the overall aesthetic appeal.
Functionality was also a key consideration in the design of The Bridge. Careful planning was undertaken to ensure that the angle elements fit together seamlessly and that the doors and drawers open and close effortlessly. The drawers are fitted with Blum Movento soft-close, full-extension runners, while traditional butt hinges were chosen for the doors to allow them to open 160 degrees. The angle drawers are solid jarrah with mortise and tenon joinery, finished with black velvet bases.
With dimensions of 1850mm in width, 500mm in depth, and 850mm in height, The Bridge is designed to be a versatile piece of furniture. It can be used as a sideboard or hall table in a home, or as a credenza or storage unit in an office or reception space. The height of the sideboard provides an additional set-down area and is ergonomically positioned for optimal use.
The Bridge was a result of extensive research and experimentation with both solid timber and acrylic solid surfaces. The designers at Acrylber Furniture wanted to ensure that the two materials could be combined in a way that highlighted their individual characteristics and created a cohesive design. Through careful planning and refinement, they were able to achieve a seamless integration of the two materials.
The construction of The Bridge began in April 2020 and was completed in June of the same year. Since January 2021, it has been on exhibition in the Acrylber showroom, showcasing its innovative design and craftsmanship. The Bridge has also been recognized for its excellence, receiving the Iron A' Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements.
With its unique combination of materials, sleek design, and attention to detail, The Bridge is a testament to the creativity and craftsmanship of Acrylber Furniture. Whether used in a home or office setting, this sideboard is sure to make a statement and elevate any space.
